Levante - FC Barcelona 0-4
With arch rivals Real Madrid losing 1-0 away to Real Betis the night before, this was another great opportunity for Barcelona to extend the gap between themselves and the team who tend to be their closest competitor come the end of the season.
Barcelona did not disappoint their supporters, grabbing a 4-0 away victory against a Levante team who are competing for a UEFA place for next season and who thus have everything to play for. Levante though were no match for the star studded Catalan team and two goals from the Messiah (Messi), one from Iniesta and Fabregas, gave Barcelona what in the end, amounted to an easy 3 points.
The game had its moments and after fourteen minutes Dani Alves was replaced by Martin Montoya, with Alves taken off due to an injury. Barcelona fielded a homegrown side for the first time, eleven players trained at their famous training facilities La Masia.
Shortly after the break, Barca opened the score with Lionel Messi producing his 300th goal for his team. Just a few minutes later the Argentine player also took the second goal for his account. The striker is thus three goals away from Gerd Müller’s world record.
A magnificent shot from Andres Iniesta in the 65th minute gave Barca 0-3 lead on Levante. The final and decisive goal then was scored by Cesc Fabregas. FC Barcelona win their away match versus Levante with a 0-4 final score and maintain their top position in La Liga.
